Cycle 1 Results

Just a little summary of our egg retrieval results. Trigger warning for those that need it - high numbers and high blastocysts

Follicles seen - 43 On my monitoring scans the nurse could see 43 follicles, I do have PCOS and many of these remained <10mm on all the scans.

Eggs collected - 28

Mature - 16

Fertilised - 13

Day 3 - 13 (ish) 10 were good quality (>6 cells), the other 3 were poor quality (<6 cells) and the embryologist said we should expect these not to be suitable for freezing

Day 5 - 10 blastocysts (!!)

50/50 split of excellent and adequate quality - 5 A-graded, 5 C-graded.

Day 6 - the final 3 had degraded so 10 is our final number.

I can't quite believe we managed to get 10 blastocysts. I was expecting 2 or 3, hoping for 4 if we were lucky. Especially after the significant drop in mature eggs. Everything I'd read online had said to expect 30-50% of mature eggs to reach blastocyst stage so I know we've been incredibly lucky. It feels so lovely to finally have some good news on this journey. We're not testing our blastocysts so now we wait for my next cycle to start our first medicated FET.
